LEDPOINT® PRS (Pellistor Replacement Sensor)- The Sinter Free Sensor Solution

AMGas LEDPOINT® PRS reduces gas detection system costs whilst increasing platform and personel safety.

Alternative flammable gas sensors based on optical absorption technology are now available from a number of vendors and it is universally acknowledged that the optical technique provides a high reliability solution to the problems found with Pellistor sensors. However, the technology used in current design optical sensors means that their use requires significant cabling and control equipment modifications, with its associated expense, so that realistically they are only financially viable when new builds or total installation refits are involved. The result is that Pellistor sensors continue to be used in existing installations giving current sensor manufacturers a lucrative and ongoing replacement market.

LEDPOINT® PRS is the first and only gas detector to bring all of the advantages of Sinter Free Infrared detection technology to control systems configured to operate with Wheatstone Bridge based field control technology with no system modifications needed - A true "Plug-and-Play" sensor solution.

 

PellistorLEDPOINT® PRS is designed to retrofit completely with Pellistor based sensors. Not only will it fit the field mounted terminal boxes, but also the three-wire connection replicates completely a Pellistor circuit. Therefore with minimal work all the benefits of Infrared can be incorporated into current installed systems. Diffusion and flow cell configurations are available for fixed point and aspirator applications.

Following approval by independant test facilties including Shell Global Solutions, SIRA and Micropack for BP and after extensive offshore field trials the AMGas LEDPOINT®® PRS is now being installed by all major UK, European North Sea and Middle East operators. The Middle East application requires the use of the LEDPOINT® PRS HT high temperature version which is calibrated for operation up to 70oC. An installation reference list and control card compatibility list is available on request.
